Lil Wayne’s album “Tha Cater III” has been nominated as the Best Album of The Year and is going against Ne-Yo’s “Year Of The Gentleman,” Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida,” Radiohead’s “In The Rainbows” and Alison Krauss & Robert Plant “Raising Sand.” This is a big deal because a rap album has not won the album of the year since 2004 when Outkast won with Going head-to-head for top album of the year are Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III, Coldplay’s Viva La Vida (both of which were top selling LPs in 2008) and Radiohead’s In Rainbows. Joining them are Ne-Yo’s Year of the Gentleman and Robert Plant’s Raising Sand, on which he collaborated with bluegrass crooner Alison Krauss.
